How We Recycle PET Strapping

Purpose-Built for PET Strapping

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) strapping is one of the most widely used packaging materials in Australian manufacturing and logistics — and one of the most commonly landfilled. StrapCycle operates a dedicated collection and processing stream specifically for PET strapping, ensuring it is handled correctly and re-enters the supply chain as high-quality recycled material.

01

Collection & Logistics

We coordinate collection directly from your facility anywhere in Australia. Our team assesses your volume and frequency requirements and sets up a collection schedule that works around your operations. No sorting or preparation is required on your end — we handle it all.

Available for single pickups or ongoing scheduled collections. We service all major metro areas and regional locations nationally.

02

Intake & Sorting

On arrival at our processing facility, all incoming material is weighed, logged, and assigned a batch reference. Strapping is inspected and separated by grade and contamination level to ensure the highest quality output from the recycling process.

Each batch is documented with weight, origin, and condition data — forming the basis of your recycling certificate.

03

Granulating

Sorted strapping is fed through industrial granulators to reduce it to uniform flake. The granulated material is then batched and prepared for transport to our chemical recycling partner — no washing or pelletising is required.

Granulated PET flake is weighed and documented by batch and origin before dispatch for chemical processing.

04

Chemical Recycling via Methanolysis

The granulated PET flake is transported directly to our chemical recycling partner for processing via methanolysis — a depolymerisation method that breaks PET down to its chemical building blocks (dimethyl terephthalate and ethylene glycol). These monomers are repolymerised to produce virgin-equivalent PET resin.

Methanolysis produces a higher-quality output than mechanical recycling and can process mixed or contaminated PET that would otherwise be unrecyclable.

05

Certification & Reporting

Once your material has been fully processed, we issue a recycling certificate confirming the weight collected, the batch reference, and the environmental outcome. This documentation supports your sustainability reporting, ESG disclosures, and waste diversion targets.

Certificates are issued per collection or on a monthly consolidated basis — your choice.

Compliance & Certifications

Our operations are conducted in accordance with Australian environmental regulations and industry standards.

EPA Licensed Facility

Our processing facility operates under an EPA licence, meeting all state and federal requirements for waste processing and recycling operations.

Chain of Custody Documentation

Every tonne of PET strapping we collect is tracked from pickup through granulation to chemical processing. Full chain-of-custody records are available on request for audit and compliance purposes.

National Environment Protection Measures

We operate in compliance with the National Environment Protection (Used Packaging Materials) Measure and support clients in meeting their product stewardship obligations.

Recycling Certificates Issued

Clients receive formal recycling certificates for all material processed, suitable for inclusion in sustainability reports, ESG disclosures, and tender documentation.

What We Accept

We specialise exclusively in PET strapping — this focus means better quality outcomes and more reliable processing than generalist recyclers.

PET strapping rolls (used and unused)
PET strapping offcuts and trim waste
Baled PET strapping
Mixed PET strapping grades

We Do Not Accept

Polypropylene (PP) strapping
Steel strapping
